They are much information as possible about your family, how can you get before you start, talk to the family (the older the better) to find all records of births, deaths and marriage certificates. The agenda and notes for more military documents.
Then again, you can always move backward from what moves you. Then you can use free sites Family Search is the best start, but try www.rootsweb.com Ellis is the Castle Garden Records Iceland and the United States and the United Kingdom or both, and the Archives of Australia can be useful.
